Wills, Trusts, Estate Planning, and Probate Administration
We provide our clients with comprehensive Estate Planning consisting of more than simply preparing a Last Will and Testament and providing for the disposition of their assets upon death with minimum estate taxes and probate fees.
This comprehensive planning involves looking at our clients’ entire personal, financial and "health" picture so that he or she can:
- Maintain independence and control over personal health care decisions, as well as over financial affairs
- Protect assets from the costs of long term care
- Minimize estate taxes and the expenses associated with probate
- Distribute estate assets according to his or her wishes
Comprehensive Estate Planning provides our clients with the opportunity to make his or her wishes known and to determine who will carry out those wishes both during their lifetime and after their death.
Comprehensive Estate Planning enables our clients to state their preferences regarding the medical care they wish to receive or wish not to receive, as well as enable them to designate a person who will be responsible for making decisions concerning their health care if they are no longer able to do so themselves.
Comprehensive Estate Planning also involves preparing a Last Will and Testament. When a person passes away without having prepared a Will, their assets will be distributed according to the laws of the State of Massachusetts. These laws make certain assumptions regarding distribution of the estate-assumptions with which a person might not agree.
In some situations, Comprehensive Estate Planning also involves creating trusts, including a Credit Shelter Trust so a person can make certain that they and their spouse will make full use of the tax benefits available to them upon death.
